Books, Supplies and Equipment Donated

Books for New City School

Thanks to the generosity of Capital Area Literacy Council and their commitment to advancing and enhancing literacy health, New City School has over 50 new books for our Pre-K classroom. Joe Bedard coordinated this gift of reading through his efforts with the council.

serving children in low-income areas in south-central PA since 2004.

The Capital Area Literacy Council’s gifts provide us with an important tool of our school’s commitment to the education of mind and soul. Reading to and providing children with access to good, age-appropriate books, enhances overall academic, social and emotional development and further cultivates a love for learning.

A Room Equipped by Paradise

The end of the school year in many schools means time to clean out unused and unwanted supplies and equipment. Often times these materials are disposed of. Thankful a local elementary school found an outlet in New City School.

Sue Collins, Amy Fisher and Sarah Akers of Paradise Elementary School (Spring GrIMG_6569ove School District) donated two large SUV loads of preschool appropriate supplies and equipment that were otherwise headed to the dump. All of these materials are in good condition and New City School now has much of the equipment needed to furnish our Pre-K room for this September. The donation included a large quantity of oversized books, numerous posters and wall items, a water table, book rack, easels, craft supplies, and other educational items.

Many thanks to Kelli Horn and Amy Fisher for coordinating this effort.
